After Fridays practice, Saturday kicked off with qualifying. With only 2.5 minutes left on the clock, we were sent out to clock our best lap – one out lap and one quick lap. It was a challenge to switch on so quickly, and despite my limited experience, I managed to secure P16. Although not where I wanted to be, I was satisfied to land in the mid-pack.
However, the heats didn’t unfold as planned, but I refused to give up. I kept pushing, fighting, and chasing, giving it my all. Heading into the final, I was determined to dig deep. I maintained composure, applied strategic thinking, and employed the skills imparted by my team to evolve as a driver. Securing P11 felt good after the struggles of the rest of the day.
On Sunday, I had another 1 lap wonder to pull off for qualifying putting me in P13 which was an improvement from the day before.Â
We then went into heats where I finished P9 in heat 1 and P12 in heat 2.Â
I started the Sunday final in P12, but I dropped positions at the start. Coupled with that, the tow down the straights is fast and found it difficult to pull away and kept battling! Not only was it frustrating but cost valuable time to chase down my other competitors as the gap continued to grow! I finished in P14 which I am still proud of as I felt I drove strong the entire weekend.Â
I am leaving the weekend happy with my performance and definitely learning a lot every time I am on track.
A special thanks goes out to the Formula Medicine Team for educating me more on my nutrition and maintaining optimal strength throughout the entire day vs. peaks and troughs! I have so much to learn about being an athlete, which will help my performance.
A highlight for me this weekend was getting to know my female competitors, Sophie Guth, Ella Hakkinen, and Lina Salamca, better. Off-track, we supported one another with sports readiness activities and band resistance training, and I had so much fun racing against them throughout the weekend.
Thank you to Zac and Jac from Fusion who supported me; I was really lucky to have their knowledge and support for the weekend. Alfonso was a champ as usual, always by my side and my biggest supporter.Â
And a shout out to my mum, who was there with me, making sure I was eating and drinking plenty of water. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents’ support and commitment to my racing.Â
